As always the photographs by David Collier are extremely vivid and appear like snapshots capturing the moment without thinking too much about the result. This series is superb summery, showcases a cheerful atmosphere and was shot on 35mm film, Polaroid and there are some digital pictures as well.

 

“With the hottest summer on record with temperatures consistently over 35 degrees, our cast who live way too far from any ocean or beach decide to have their own backyard pool party. It starts off with Georgia and Bella just hanging at home and decide to call Chayde to see if she wants to meet up at the local store and grab a few snacks and drinks and head over to their backyard for some summer fun. They decide to blow up the tiny pool to cool off and of course in a very Aussie way and also have some fun with the garden hose. To me it shows a quintessential Aussie summer and as you can see our girls do have some fun.

I have worked with all 3 of my models before and knew they would be up for this and are all super down to earth and all look great on camera as the images show.”

Heavy music, gang vocals and marihuana are probably the daily stuff of this 5 crazy lads from Barcelona. They’ve been playing since 2010, touring around the country, bringing stages down and breaking necks. If you're into Hatebreed, Madball or Brujeria… roll a joint and enjoy!

They are young, talented, and they’re becoming pretty popular in youtube. Their last single “Wrath Afire” reached more than a 1.500.000 views on Youtube and they've performed festivals like Resurrection in Viveiro. Be aware, this is not a one hit wonder, this is just the beginning of something huge! For Heavy-thrasher lovers!

Formed in a mid sized city, Igualada, they are one of the most international bands on the list. Bored of touring the Iberian Peninsula they aim for South-America where they have a very passionate following. They even made up a mixed concept for soccer and pogo dance.
These great metal motherfuckers are willing to conquer the world! Nothing is going to stop them.

Dawn of the Maya - Pamplona (Metal/Hardcore)

The mayas tried to predict the end of the world…. but what they didn’t predict is this all star formation from Pamplona. Genius drumming plus mix of throat breaking vocals with melodic choruses, brings out a bunch of tunes you don't wanna miss. 
They have a new album out called “Colossal".

Hyde abbey - Barcelona (Deathcore)

Born by the European California, "El Maresme" we still don't understand what turned them into the darkest side of music. They are talented, have passion and they know how to bring out a decent breakdown. Their mentality is very open minded and they are a hell of a hard touring band. Thumbs up!

We love their name! (Enter shikari song! cool!) But the outstanding skill of writing music is what adds up most to this band. They are young and talented enough to perform some technical and electronic metal that you can't miss. We hope to see them soon in our city 😉

Thirteen Bled Promises - Madrid  (Deathcore)

Imagine that one day humankind needs to open the gates of hell and collaborate with the devil to fight against an alien invasion. Sounds fun, right? Well, that's the storyline behind the last album “The Black Legend”. This crazy deathcore band from Madrid are willing to be abducted to perform the first ever live show in a UFO.

AMERICAN SOCKS TEAM

The Fashion Week was happening in Berlin and we couldn't miss BRIGHT TRADESHOW where the coolest brands gather to show their upcoming releases. The Accessories alley had it's personal oasis with tropical vibe: American Socks!

While doing some B2B business we got dancy with the rest of exhibitors with one of the most known Spanish music anthems: "La Macarena". Rad times.

1.Melody Fall. 

The guys from Turin have performed in several countries like Japan or China and after more than a decade, they are still burning fuel to release albums at an impressive level. The latest release is "The Scene" a good allegory to tourlife and their passion for music. 

2. Sunset Radio.

Straight from Ravenna the 5 piece just released their first album "Vices" a great kickstart that included performances with international bands like Our Last Night and a Euro Tour. They are part of the American Socks Team and yeah, make sure to watch them live. Brace yourselves, this is just the start.

3. Vanilla Sky.

What can we say? This is the most international Italian Pop-Punk band! Popular by their covers the highlight of their career was the release of "Changes" an album that included a collaboration with Mark Hoppus! *Mindblown*. Success also came with international festivals and crowded tours. 
Now their core fanbase is based in Russia where the band has a huge following.

4. Why Everyone Left

If you're looking into poppy melodies and choruses with some real hardcore background, Why Everyone Left is your band. Their latest LP "Been Home Enough" gave them the chance to tour UK last June and open for some of the biggest mainstream bands in the Pop-Punk scene. They have many plans, one of them, conquer the world.

5. The Last Confidence

 

After some member changes in the last couple of years this guys from Cortenuova are paddling to get back on the top of the wave. Finest energetic Pop-Punk that stands loud for "Defend Stage Diving". They already played in many cities all over the Italian territory and now they are planning an European tour. We really hope they stop by the American Socks office to hang out and drink some beers!

6. Rising Over

 
These lads mix the best from two different worlds. The most intense Pop-Punk and some technical riffs from the Hardcore comeback. They released a xmas tune you should go and check out too. Good Job!

7. Well Planned Attack

This band was born in Padova 2012. Their ethos from the start was hard touring. And they did. Traveling through countries like Canada, Japan or even Russia, proving that italian music is worth a listen. We don't know their future plans, but gonna follow up their upgrowing trajectory.
If you're into bands like A Day To Remember, you'll love them!

8. Summer of Hoaxes

 
We personally adore this band and it has been played in the office more than once because of the awesome vocals done by Phil. The choruses are so easy to singalong you won't get them out of your head. The band brings some real Pop-Punk influenced by the 90's into the scene and right now is recording a new EP to be released this 2017.

9. Leftovers

Heavily influenced by Blink 182 this band is worth a mention as their music is easy listening and takes you straight to your high school days. Based in Rome, they managed to make themselves a place in the scene. They should improve their sock game, though. 😉

10. Halflives

We wanted to include a female fronted band in this blog and Halflives are not only part of our team they also are a VERY talented band. They aim high and work like the best to release unbelieveable music videos and productions. Their alternative rock is made to be played in huge arenas. They're heading to Europe this 2017. Make sure to attend to any of their shows ❤️

TALES FROM THE CRYPT

Hanging out with the dead while listening to a Misfits album (The ones featuring Glen Danzing... Of course!) is what we did with Enzo Iriarte.

Facing the sea and guarded by strict vigilantes lays the scariest cemetery you've ever been: Barcelona Montjuïc Graveyard.  

After sunset the departed come back to life, but just before things got messy we had enough time to meet Harley Quinn (Steffie Hache) and some Skull guys (Juan García & Sergi Sánchez).

The undead came after us as we disturbed their rest and had to leave, but we'll be back to satisfy our interest in graveyards.

Less Than Jake are one of those bands that started back in the 90's and today they are still alive and kicking while putting out albums like "Live from Astoria" (2016) or "See the Light" (2013).
This summer they've been performing and messing up on Warped Tour under the slogan of "Make Warped Tour Great Again. We had to make it happen!

Inspired by the rasta colors, we built a sock that's ready for the extreme touring the band is doing on a daily basis.
For those who are there for the skanking, the reinforced heel, toe and a cushioned sole will keep your feet safe.

H&M just released a Bring Me The Horizon sweatshirt and the metalcore community has gone mad. The chain store purchased a license to the design, but question is: "Is it legit to extract a style from a sub-culture and pop it into the mainstream?"

This already happened with bands like The Who, Nirvana, The Ramones or Iron Maiden. The owner of the trademark and designs is free to sell licenses for production, something similar occurs with Football clubs, Star Wars and any Disney Movie. 

What happens when a trademark is more than a simple logo and represents a whole culture and lifestyle? People get angry. Not everybody agrees with the ethos of companies like H&M. Lately Thrasher Magazine owner talked about Rihanna or Justin Bieber wearing their t-shirts. (Read Here). "We don't want fucking clowns wearing our apparel"

People is dumb enough to buy and wear something they don't mean. The cool thing about being part of a not-mainstream culture is to relate a way of dressing with an alternative lifestyle, something real. 

Thousands of sweatshirts are going to be sold in H&M, and in the end no one will ever care. You'll walk by someone you think is into BMTH, but sadly is listening to Drake's latest album on spotify.

Groezrock Festival already announced the dates for the upcoming 2017 edition. 45 years ago, Netflix didn't exist, cable TV neither and US youth was living in a constant informative bombing about the Cold War. Who wouldn't leave home and try to forget about all the madness in the world while cruising on a skateboard?

Punk Rock Holiday is a newcomer to the Summer Festival Season. With only 6 editions it already topped by far many other options around Europe. It's placement in Tolmin, Slovenia is one of the reasons for the perfect alternative vacation you can share with your girlfriend, family or friends.
With 2 stages the festival hosts over 50 bands from all over the globe including some of your all time favorites during 5 days. 

If you don't have the tickets you're out of luck the festival is completely SOLD OUT.
Here are some essentials you can't miss when in Tolmin.
Vamos a la fiesta!

1. The Magic Freezing River.

The festival is built by the cleanest river in Europe: Soča. Also called "The Emerald Beauty", this river is born by the Julian Alps and flows through the festival area, something exceptional and unusual among other festivals that are built on a grass or a mud field. You definitely would jump straightaway but the water is cold as f**k! You'll gonna need some real guts. 
There are 2 beaches, one, next to the camping area and another one that meets a tributary forming super fun rapid waters, both are perfect to hang out, meet people and have a morning beer. Bring some inflables to flow by with your friends.

The Soča's river is also known among audience as the "Hangover Killer". The ancient secret minerals flowing in the water will make your worst pains disappear in a matter of seconds. Remember to keep it clean as you found it, for nature's sake.

 

2. Camping in the Wildlife.

This is not the common festival. You can camp at free will all along the riverbank. You definitely wanted some adventures right? You'll end up in the forest. Don't stress, 90% of the audience camps there. It's not the most comfortable place ever, but trees will project shadow so you'll sleep longer. Be aware, wasps are everywhere! 🐝

The festival provides with everything you need:
- Showers: Hot and Cold water showers are available. Not for shy!
- Food and Drinks: Need a late night bite? You can get anything.
- Ice: Really useful to keep your cans cold.

3. Tolmin: Rock City

With a small population of 3525 during the year, in august the city is flooded with thousands of Metalheads and Punkers that triple inhabitance. But life won't stop in Tolmin, locals have a terrible english but are friendly and always willing to help.
You'll find everything you need: supermarkets, gas station and restaurants.

At your arrival you may get lost easily, just follow the road straight up until you find a huge sign: "PUNK ROCK ➡️" pointing the road to the festival. There's the stairway to heaven.

4. Beach Stage 🚣

The festival promoters have been always known for supporting the scene and the upcoming bands. That's why "The Beach Stage", built by the river, gives the chance for unsigned acts to prove their value with an outstanding PA and professional set up.

The organization will listen one by one to all the proposals and only 20 bands will get the slot. 

5. Main Stage 🎸

This stage is the main attraction at the whole fest. Punk-Rock legends like NOFX, Descendents or Millencolin will give the best of their energies and sing their all time anthems for one of the craziest crowds in Europe. The stage is fenceless and you can stagedive at your own risk. Remember not to bother artists with stupid selfies or bear hugs. Just go up there and jump. Someone, hopefully will get your ass up!

 

6. Bird Attack Live Stream

You're not able to attend to the festival? You're somewhere overseas willing to see what's going up in Slovenia? Our pals at Bird Attack Records are setting up a live multi-camera broadcasting on their website birdattackradio.com. Audio is professionally mixed so you get the closest experience without moving from your bedroom. Rad, uh?
Don't miss their 10 artists playing there: Antillectual, Edward in Venice or Mainline10 among others. 

7. Afterparty 🎉

After all live music is OFF there is party going on at the Beach Stage until late night for the vampires that want to continue dancing. It's time to jump into the water and get refreshed while you drink a mojito.
Last year we had the Punk-Rock Karaoke. You were able to grab the microphone and perform like a rockstar with a real band to your fav. tunes. 
You definitely don't want to miss this.

8. Festival Market: Food & Merch. 👕 🍔 🍟

Time for shopping! At the festival entrance there are many brands offering their best discounts for kickass apparel. Don't forget to get the official PRH t-shirt as a souvenir and grab some American Socks on the way. 
There are also many food trucks and stands where to get decent food. Pizza is always a good choice. 👍

9. Extreme Sports.

This year, the festival is building up a Skateboarding Competition! That's right, we'll be able to see many lads giving out their best tricks. Bring your skateboard!
Tolmin is also known as one of the best spots for paragliding, rafting or canyoning. Contact any of the local adventure/sports offices for more information and to live an exceptional journey in the nature.

10. The drive back. 🚐

When everything is over you need to pack up and drive (or fly if you're lucky!) back home. You'll had drunk more beer than water, slept in a tent on the floor and carry the worst hangover ever, but you'll still have that smile on your face because of the unbelievable experience you won't ever forget.
